Careful Research and documentation of the discoveries and preservation tell the casual visitor and serious historian that the archaeological and historical Integrity of the James House is important to us.
Preservation of the James House is sensitive to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties. Where possible the property is being preserved as it has evolved to the present. Major reconstruction has occurred only where the deterioration has been extensive, and the original structure was largely destroyed.

Interpretation within the guidelines of the Standards will dictate the period or periods that the James House will be restored to. There is much to do. Discoveries will continue. Programs are being developed to share with our visitors the challenges, as well as the finished pieces in our collection destroyed.
